  Simpsons is a lovely traditional nursery where plant lovers can browse the extensive range without tripping over the department store 'tat' that seem to swallow up most garden centres. Occasionally something gets mislabeled, but i've bought so much from here its bound to happen, and the prices are excellent.
  
  There is an excellent indoor/outdoor cafe that is really popular for locals for lunch, or try some excellent cakes. I've used it as an informal place to meet colleagues and work at a laptop over coffee and cake - it works well and they don't mind as long as you don't abuse their hospitality
